Dick Bennett: An After Dinner Speech or A Speech After Dinner
Known throughout the basketball world as one of the game’s pre-eminent defensive coaches, Coach Bennett’s teams were often national leaders in scoring defense.
Dick Bennett spent 35 plus years teaching the game of basketball to young men in the state of Wisconsin with high school coaching stops in towns like West Bend and Eau Claire and college jobs in Stevens Point, Green Bay and Madison … racking up nearly 700 wins along the way! He led the Wisconsin Badgers to the 2000 Final Four and followed that up with a successful stint rebuilding the program at Washington State University.
At our Basketball Coaches Academy, Coach Bennett spoke following our VIP dinner. It was essentially a conversation with Dick Bennett. In this setting, Coach Bennett shares his wealth of knowledge and speaks on a variety of topics.
He discusses how faith was instrumental in developing his philosophy and shares his intangibles that make great coaches and players. He also discusses success and how it can be challenging to overcome.
Coach Bennett talks a lot on today's game and player ... how things have changed, how things have improved, but also how many things have worsened such as certain skills and emphasis on fundamentals.
He also shares are a few drills that will build toughness in your team and players and uses the whiteboard to draw up a few plays that will help your team.
This is a great presentation and a chance to learn a ton from a coach who understands what it takes to get the most out of yourself and your team.
